Each figure is built around a wire armature. Head, hands and feet are sculpted from polymer clay; the body and clothing are textile. Nothing is cast or repeated — every doll is made once.

Základem každé loutky je drátěná kostra. Hlava, ruce a nohy jsou z modelovací hmoty, tělo a oblečení z textilu. Nic se neodlévá ani neopakuje — každá loutka vzniká jen jednou.

Most of them stand unsupported and keep the pose you give them. Some are made to hang instead.

Většina z nich stojí bez opory a udrží pozici, do které je postavíte. Některé jsou naopak dělané na zavěšení.

Jana Pszczólková trained in applied painting at the Zámeček art school in Plzeň and has been making dolls for over twenty years. She also works in stop-motion animation, as founder and creative director of Bobeš Anima — her figures are built the way the medium demands: they have to hold a pose.

Jana Pszczólková vystudovala užitou malbu na SUPŠ Zámeček v Plzni a loutky dělá přes dvacet let. Věnuje se i filmové animaci — jako zakladatelka a kreativní ředitelka spolku Bobeš Anima staví své figury tak, jak to animace vyžaduje: musí udržet pozici.

Her work was given a solo exhibition at the Prácheň Museum in Písek in 2012, and in 2015 she showed at Doll Prague, an international collectors' doll exhibition held at the Slovanský dům in Prague. She is listed in the Archive of Fine Arts, the Czech register of contemporary artists — as an illustrator first; the dolls came later. The surname is Polish for little bee.

Samostatnou výstavu měla v roce 2012 v Prácheňském muzeu v Písku, v roce 2015 vystavovala na Doll Prague, mezinárodní sběratelské výstavě loutek ve Slovanském domě v Praze. Archiv výtvarného umění ji vede primárně jako ilustrátorku a pedagožku — loutky přišly později. Příjmení Pszczółka znamená polsky „včelka".

Twenty years of work, most of it in other people's hands by now. The names are hers, and they stay in Czech.

Dvacet let práce, většina z ní je dnes už u nových majitelů.

Painting and illustration — the other half of the practice, and where it started. The Archive of Fine Arts still lists her as an illustrator first.

Malba a ilustrace — druhá polovina tvorby, a ta, kde všechno začalo. Archiv výtvarného umění ji pořád vede primárně jako ilustrátorku.
